Gurdeep, attended his first Rotary meeting on the 13th Jan 2020. At the event he was officially inducted by Suraiya Kassamally of Stratford Rotary Club, as a Rotary member for Great Britain & Ireland.
The meeting also included a presentation by Stuart Mason from Rotary Club of Bribie Island, talking about their Hand Hygiene for Health project, which included a talk about their SPATAP bottle for hand washing. SPATAP is simple way for Children to wash their hands.
The project also educates children's in schools about hand washing habits and techniques. The SPATAP portable tap has won 1st prize in two international competitions. for more information please visit https://handhygieneforhealth.org/
The event also included a presentation from Lepra UK | talks covered how Lepra are helping people and families affected by leprosy and discrimination. The presentation also covered how the charity works with communities to identify cases and provide care and treatment. Every day 600 people are diagnosed, more than 50 of those include children.
In 2018-19 Lepra reached 283,000 people through diagnosis, treatment and care in India, Bangladesh and Mozambique.
